Who is from Memphis? And, who has been preaching to you for a long long time now how good Memphis is? ME, Blake. <BR/><BR/>Memphis is a very good team and excels because of the pure athleticism on the team. CDR is a great slasher, Rose is quick as shit. Dorsey is massive. Willie Kemp is quick and can knock down 3s. Antonio Anderson is a good slasher. I can go all day about my hometown boys.<BR/><BR/>I grew up with Andre Allen. He was the number 1 player in the nation in the 8th grade and won an AAU national championship playing with Memphis Bellevue. I saw him play in middle school and high school. I say this because I know Memphis very well and I know Duke very well as I have been a fan since elementary school. <BR/><BR/>Memphis and Duke are superficially similar but very different. Duke attempts to play uptempo, but Memphis effectively does it. Memphis is so much more athletic it is not even funny. I like Singler, but he would be manhandled. And, King, wouldn't see the court in that matchup. While Duke could be better skill-wise, Memphis has runs a system like no other. Now, they can force turnovers and run you out the gym. <BR/><BR/>I want to respectfully disagree with your assessment of Memphis and the insufficient juxtaposition of the teams. Memphis is good, but they have some flaws one of which is that they play to the level of competition, can struggle attacking zones, and do not shoot particularly well as a team (3pts, fts, and 15+foot jumpers). <BR/><BR/>Aye, if you want I can write a guest column. I have a million things to write about both teams as I follow them closely. I also have really good ties with Tennessee Vols basketball as I know some of the players on their team JP Prince from Memphis and others. Tennessee can beat Memphis...should be a great rivalry game. Let me know.
