as a journalist, you should be upset that such a coach (who has around a .500 winning percentage, mostly beating I-AA teams) is allowed to so vehemently trounce an article published in a respectable newspaper with quotes corroborated by several members of the media. this sets a dangerous precedent, and i wish you'd address it more thoroughly. how would you like it if reggie love held a press conference following your interview where he not only called your ethics into question but also disputed the veracity of your work?
I was only referring to the message that Coach Gunday got across about the media's (at times)unjust treatment of college athletes.
Many times the media treats college athletes harshly for playing poorly and fails to realize that these players are allowed to make mistakes.
Gundy's statement highlights a major issue in college sports, how too much emphasis is being placed on winning rather than making sure student-athletes are doing the right thing.
It's a serious problem and I'm glad Gundy chose to say something.
This is the only part of Gundy's message I was addressing and I hope you will not assume I am commenting on the veracity of the reporter's work (which I do not have a way of corroborating).
I created this blog so I could share some of my rants, opinions, and theories on the latest in sports. If you would like to exchange links or become a sponsor, email me at Sportschronicle@gmail.com
